My youngest has had a cold for a month now. I took him to the doctor last week to see if they could put him on something because he suddenly developed a fever with this cold of his. So they gave him the pink stuff, Amoxicillan. It didn't work.
I'm sure he felt as frustrated as I was feeling with the constant runny nose, the stuffiness, cough, and just plain irritability. So I took him back today. As we were waiting in the waiting room, I noticed little red dots on his face , neck and arms. HMMM Those weren't there yesterday.
Come to find out he has Fifth Disease! And now he was not contagious. Great so all this time he's been around my pregnant sister in law he has been contagious. Don't worry, I warned her about it. She called her OB and they are going to do an antibody test to see if she is immune to it. If not, they will watch her very closely. I'm not exactly sure what they would do if she got it. But at least she's taking steps to keep her peanut safe.
Anyhoo, it could also be that on top of this viral infection he could have plain 'ol allergies. So now he's on a trial of Singulair. So we will see how that goes. I'm just as tired of his runny nose as he is. Crossing my fingers that the Singulair will dry it up!

Fifths Disease just went rampant thru the schools here. My Kindergartner came down with it and she had that slapped face look and was hot as an Arizona summer day.
That was about it, she didn't get the rash real bad.
I had never heard of it until I got a note from the school nurse.
Wow- I've heard a lot about Fifths Disease recently. I hope he's feeling better soon.
I hope your sister-in-law is able to get an answer soon. I have heard that most people are usually exposed to it as children and develop the antiboties to it. I hope this is her situation.

Hey girl No to singular! Use zertec, Singular is real bad on little boys it messes with their testosterone and gives them a marked change in personality. I did research because Dash was on it for a couple of years. When I took him off I got my sweet little boy back. It is real common to give little boys personality changes. Look it up on the internet that is what I had to do and I found a very vocal support network that confirmed my suspicions.
Kari contracted Fifths Disease when she was pregnant with her twins...everything worked out just fine, but it was a scare! Hope your sweet little one is feeling better! Have a fabulous weekend!
blessings,
