Taking care of Me!!!

Now that the kids are off to school I have a little more time to myself. Just a little bit. Tiger wants all my attention when he's awake and rest assured he gets it. But when nap time rolls around I get some time for me.

It wasn't like this last year. Both Little Monkey and Baby Girl went to the same school but Little Monkey only went for 2 1/2 hours. Now Baby Girl and I get up at 5:30 am (an ungodly hour if you ask me).  Who in the world invented this time? Any time between 12 am and 8am should be banned from the atomic clock.  Seriously!

I have a little over an hour after she goes to school before I have to get Little Monkey ready for school. That's when I do my cleaning.  Once both kids are off to school. It's time for Tiger and I to play!

When nap time hits, its ME time! And I enjoy every single second of it!!! Yesterday, I read an entire book in three hours!  It was pure heaven. Monday, I actually got to cook dinner in the slow cooker and sat down to watch my favorite craft show on DIY, Martha Stewart Crafts!  I actually got to pee , ALONE!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Now that's freedom people!

Today, I even painted my toes . The last time I painted my toes was the spring of 2006 for my brother's wedding! Those feet needed some serious help. Especially since I'm not a shoe wearing momma.

When I was told that Little Monkey was going to go to school all day I was happier than a pig in two feet of mud.  I know the mommy's with there first child in school don't quite feel very ecstatic about this momentous time.  It's hard to let your babies go off to school and be somewhere without you.   It gets easier the more kids you have.

And frankly, I am basking in this thing called ME time.  It's important. Even if you still have all of your kids at home. You need to take time for yourself. And I'm not talking about bed time. That does not count! If you don't have school  age children, get up 30 minutes earlier than they do (unless its at that ungodly hour).  Have your cup of coffee get some time to read the book you have been wanting to find time to read, paint your toes, write a letter to a friend.

It doesn't have to be in the morning. What about nap time? In the evening after the kids go to bed? Your husband would be glad to sit in his boxers in front of the TV while you go out for coffee with a friend or hit a sale at your favorite store. I'm sure he won't mind the alone time either after a stressful day at work!

We are moms, we work 24 hours a day. We can't stop being moms even if we wanted to. So take that 15 or 30 minutes to relax and regroup. You deserve it!!!

What a great post:) I look forward to nap time too. But since I work over night, I look forward to nap time so I can nap also! HOWEVER, during my weekends when I get a full nights sleep, I take advantage of that nap time! It is so nice. Some how 3 hours can feel like 3 minutes! LOL

I so hear you! I can't wait for school to start here. Of course I will still have the 2 little ones at home, and not as much help :)

I couldn't agree more. My kids "rest" everyday after lunch so mom can have some time to read, or watch TV or anything else that I feel like doing in that hour. It's what keeps me sane in the summer.

I LOVE naptime!! Wow, how can you finish a book in three hours? (I popped over from MBC) :) Great blog!

Yeah I would love to paint my toes, I can't sit still to let them dry. I usually rush off to another job. My babies are in school and I usually get one day to myself since I work with my husband, but I just tend to use it doing something for everybody else. Like now I teach Spanish at my kid's school to save a $100 a month tuition. All my extra time goes to creating interesting lessons.

I hope the same when I have kids of my own - to run guy errands of course. Haha.

That sounds wonderful now that your kids are in school! I would love some me time that didn't occur at 2 AM while on the computer. I've forgotten what a book looks like!
