I saw this on You Tube and loved this idea. What a great way to dress up a tablescape, the front porch or anywhere that looks like it needs a little spooky cheer. And it's super easy to do!

Joshua Bell - At Home with Friends

At Home with Friends represents the Grammy Award-winning violinist's life-long dream of recording an album of instrumental and vocal duets with an amazing roster of musicians and friends and includes artists such as Regina Spektor, Josh Groban, Sting, Kristin Chenoweth, Chris Botti, and more!

The album covers all the genres, from classical to po, bluegrass to Broadway, Jazz and ethinic World Music. There are even some season tracks in there just in time for the holidays.

I personally enjoyed the music. Joshua Bell is one talented musician. His music was great to put on in the background while during a dinner party, while your reading with a glass of wine or even doing some craftiness (that's the way I like it). Each track was soothing, uplifting and gave me a kind of renewal. A breather from the hectic day with three kids. I loved it!

If you love this type of music you will love Joshua Bell!

Miscreations Giveaway

I'm at it again! This time I'm giving away a luggage/diaper bag ID tag. It's made with Amy Butler's Belle Fabric Collection. It measures approximately 3 x 6 and will hold a business card size information card. Don't worry if you win it I will send a blank card with it.

What qualifies this to be a "Miscreation"?

It's a tad too long for my taste for one thing. I will be adding them in my shop that will be one inch shorter. (hint hint). And it was my first attempt at using a walking foot on my machine so it's not perfect. On the back the eyelet was placed but not the nicest job at that but you can't really tell.

What do you need to do to win?

Just visit my shop and take a look at my necklaces. Tell me a design that you would like to see on one of my necklaces in the comments. This giveaway is open to all and will end on Wednesday, October 21st.

Craft Project Thursday

Fall is here and Halloween is coming. Over the next month I will post some easy crafts you can do with your kids or to spruce up your home! This one comes from Better Homes and Gardens, my favorite magazine!

Candy Corn Topiaries

Spruce up an entry table with a pair of candy corn topiaries made out of a dowel, poster board, and rickrack.

What You Need (for Each Topiary)
  • Metal bucket, approximately 9 inches in diameter
  • 31-inch-long 1-inch dowel
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Sheet of white poster board
  • Wrapping paper: orange, yellow, and white
  • White construction paper
  • Black rickrack
  • Circle punches: 2-1/2- and 1-inch-diameter
  • Water-base decoupage medium
  • 1-inch-wide sponge brush
  • Floral foam
  • Black shredded paper
  • Crafts glue
  • Double-stick tape

How to Make It
  1. Paint the bucket and the dowel black. Let dry.
  2. Enlarge the pattern (click on the link above to download it), and cut out.
  3. Lay the topiary pattern over the poster board for the base. Trace around the pattern, and cut out the cone. Roll it into a cone shape and secure with tape.
  4. Lay the candy corn stripe patterns on the appropriate colors of wrapping paper, trace around the patterns, and cut out the shapes.
  5. Wrap the stripes around the cone and tape the ends to secure. Cut lengths of rickrack to cover the seams, and secure with crafts glue. Let dry.
  6. Use the circle punches to make white construction paper circles. Glue the circles to the bucket. Let dry.
  7. Brush on two coats of decoupage medium, allowing drying time between the coats. Cut a piece of floral foam to fit snugly inside the bucket and cone. Push the dowel into the foam. Carefully push the cone topiary onto the upright dowel. Fill the bucket with shredded paper.

Happy Crafting!!!
